Hello Warriors and Guardians of the microcosm of health.

Did you know that "stress" can actually cause your gray matter to decrease in size and mass? I didn't either until I read a report on Alzheimer's and in today's modern climate, stress is every where.

Let's back up a bit though. Everyone talks about "stress" but not a lot of people knows what it is or what it does to the body, mind, spirit connection.

"STRESS" is a term that is often misunderstood. It is not just nervous tension, but is a non-specific response of the body to any demands made upon it. Stress is generated by situations that demand readjustment, adaptation by the body through the mind.

Examples of stress:

1) Perspiring on a hot day

2) Exertion or breathlessness from running uphill

3) Shivering in cold weather

In all three cases, a situation has prompted some kind of body response. The body continually changes and adapts to external influences.

My friends, "STRESS" is not going anywhere. We are inundated with stress 24/7, all day, everyday, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Even while we sleep our bodies are under some form of stress. Our hearts continue to pump life giving blood through out our bodies, our muscles move and react to stimulation that causes our lungs to extract much needed oxygen and our mind is active when we dream.

Tune again when I will be discussing the various types of stress that is classified as "distress" and "eustress".

If you like my post, let me know. Thanx!
